Why This Site?
Deciding on owning a Rottweiler is
a tough and not to be taken
lightly decision. We wanted
to give some resources to help
owners choose the right dog and
steer them clear of puppy farms
and indescriminate breeders.
Sadly the number of bad breeders in on the increase and we feel it is important
to provide potential owners with resources on what to look for in a breeder and
why.
We didn't want this site to be
about our dogs and what they do,
we wanted this site to be about
the ROTTWEILER - a site with
nothing but our dogs and a bit of
information is of no use to the
potential and existing owner.
We do have some
information on our dogs and they
are used extensively throughout
the site for illustration purposes
but we hope we have presented them
in a capacity which is useful to
you.
We have been in the breed in
excess of 20 years and wanted to
put our experience into something useful for all owners.
Why Volsung?
Choosing an affix name is an important process and
requires much thought to get it right. Many
people choose a combination of letters from various
names, we wanted an affix with some theory behind
it. Originally we were not granted Volsung, our
old affix was Barghest but we reapplied and were granted the Volsung affix.
We are lifelong Wagnerites therefore it was
only fitting that our affix should have a wagnerian
theme and what better than the famous Ring
Cycle. The Volsung's were human's beget by the
god Wotan, so good there were only three of them (Siegmund,
Sieglinde and Siegfried) - so that's where our affix
comes from!
Do we breed?
Not at present and probably not into the
future. Our interest is in the welfare of the
breed, its public image and the all important
training. We show, compete in obedience and
working trials where possible - i.e. what suits our
current dogs - we NEVER rehome any of our dogs because they don't fit with a
specific purpose.
We are
also dedicated to supporting RESPONSIBLE breeding and
steering new owners to the right breeder. If you
need to know a good breeder, ask us and we will make
some recommendations for you. We are here to
help you along the way with your pup from the initial
purchase into old age.
This site is here to help you, advice and help is
always freely available.
