There are a great variety of show collars.

You can use leather, fabric etc.  the choice is wide.

Here we will show you some of the commonly used ones in the show ring.

Remember that collars used are slip collars so please do not use them on your dog until he is adequately trained and does not pull on the leash.

American Show Collar.

Very similar to the slip lead apart from the clip which is used.

This top photo is a leather variety, the bottom fabric.

Remember when using leather to saddle soap it first so it is not uncomfortable for your dog.

Leather undoubtedly lasts the longest and you will pay around £8-£10.  Fabric come in much cheaper at around £3.

Plaited Slip Collar

These are the most comfortable variety for your dog - highly recommended!

As with most of the nylon collars, you can pick these up for around £3.

Nylon Slip Collar.

Essentially the same principle as the American Collar but without the clip.  Although we have used a light collar here, stick to black for the ring

Cost is the same, around £3.

Types of collar....

Lots of variety in collars but choose black so it doesn't look obvious against your dogs coat.  Decide on your handling method before choosing a collar.
